Yorkshire Ripper Story

British Police, in 1975, launched a team of 150 brilliant officers to find one serial killer. It is always difficult to trace a serial killer because the killer is not considered as mentally normal. Nobody will kill a fellow human being if he is in his good mind. People may have killed people out of revenge and other agonies but the violence initiated by them, was caused by a particular circumstance. Serial killers don’t belong to that genre of murderers. They have deep psychological problems inside and that may have fed by their circumstances because nobody is born in this planet as evil.

So it is very difficult to trace Serial killers who are psychologically abnormal and some may even not know why they commit it. Some criminals didn’t even know that they have committed such crimes. Investigators always get surprised by the reasons of killing because it will be very weird for normal people to digest. Killers are driven by their terribly-programmed subconscious. One good example of this is the fictional antagonist of Thomas Harris’s “Red Dragon”.

Back to the case file, there was a team of 150 police officers to find a criminal who killed a sex worker, in Britain. She was young, the way she got murdered was gruesome, and the method of killing may be the reason the British police appointed these many officers to catch him. The poor girl was stabbed fifteen times and the back of her head was distorted by a hammer. You can see the depth of an evil mind or a mind which takes pleasure in torturing people. After an in depth investigation which covered 11,000 interviews, police closed the case because they couldn’t find the murderer.

She was not his first victim. He attacked two more women in the past, but they both escaped at narrow chances. When a woman gets murdered, the killer’s image in the police mind will be of a man and in most cases that would be the truth. The killer, mentioned in this article, was known as the ‘Yorkshire Ripper’.

Mr Yorkshire Ripper’ went on to kill more women in future without any traces. When darkness brooded over Yorkshire streets, women frightened to step out of the houses. The twist in the story happened when Marilyn Moore, one of his potential victims, who survived, went to police and give a clear description of her attacker. Police found that the blood traces and tire tracks found on the spot, were matched with the evidence gathered at a previous murder spot. Doubts led to one Peter Sutcliffe, who were thoroughly questioned and dismissed.

Murder spree went on to spray blood in Media and media dubbed the killer as ‘Yorkshire Ripper’ while the police completely misunderstood a man who send letters to them, making fun of them that they couldn’t catch Yorkshire ripper. He also used a signature of Jack the ripper, an ex ripper of the town. As a result, police were hunting for him while the real killers multiplied the count. The original killer was taken into custody for 9 times and he escaped the questioning somehow.

It is interesting to know why he was taken into custody again. Just for a fake number plate of his car. His description about the number plates matched the evidences of the other cases and police went back to the spot where they arrested him with a prostitute. There was a hammer, knife and a robe- he used to drop these weapons at the spot when he escapes. Police got a warrant to raid his home and question his wide. After two days of continuing questioning, he admitted that he is Yorkshire Ripper.

You do want to know his justification of his crimes - He was executing women on the orders of God !
